My New Obsession

I have an obsession.
It is this.
I love it.
I check it daily.
I have used many recipes including Southwestern Chicken Nachos and Chile Lime Tostadas
I have many on my list waiting to try them out and I can't wait!
I also have an obsession with the crock pot.
I love easy recipes so if anyone has any or know where to find some please send them my way!

Happy Birthday Kar Kar!

Colton looks miserable because he was...he has four teeth breaking through all at once. Poor baby!

Yesterday was my little sister Karlee's 22nd Birthday! I can't believe she is 22 and makes me realize how much we really are "grown up" (in theory mind you). Colton and I LOVE her so much and are so grateful for everything she does for us. Colton gets excited whenever Karlee comes home from work and always manages to find his way down to her room to sit on her bed and hang out. We hope she has a GREAT day and we hope she knows how much we love her!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KARLEE!

Mad Skills...

I haven't felt too great the last two days so I stayed home from work and Karlee didn't go in either (because NO ONE should work on their birthday!). The only thing Karlee wanted to do was go to Red Lobster and make a cake. Colton got to help make the cake and was a great helper! I even let him lick the spoon and even let him even have a little cake since it was a "special" day. Well after it was baked and cooled Colton and I decided that we would surpirse Karlee and decorate it while she took a nap. I thought it would be really sad if she had to decorate her own cake. We didn't really plan on doing this so we had to use whatever we had in the house. Now I don't know about you but I think we are super great cake decoraters!! Colton even "helped" me write "Happy Birthday" and if you look closely you can see where I let him control the sprinkle bottle all by himself. We hope Karlee had a GREAT day! We love her lots!!

Winter Boredom

Between the cold, the inversion, and one of us not feeling well at any given time we are SOOO ready to get out of the house!! Until that time we have been finding entertainment anywhere we can.
We cut a tube in half and like to play swords and "talk" to each other.

We eat...a lot...

We are forming a super cool and really good band.

The other day I was blowing my hair dry and I looked over and Colton had climbed into the bath tub all by himself and was contently playing with his bath time toys. This was also the first time he looked at the camera and actually said "cheese".

And finally he took my keys and was trying to "unlock" the door to make his escape!
No matter where we are going Colton gets so excited to go bye bye.
We can't wait until warmer weather to be able to get out of the house but until then we will keep finding things to keep us entertained.

Welcome to the World!

Baby Boy Hansen has arrived!
Jenny was suppose to have her scheduled c-section on Sunday (01-10-10) at 10:00am yet he had other ideas. All my step-mom Margie wanted was to make sure she was down there for when he was born (The Hansen's lives in Arizona) and was prepared to flight out at a minutes notice. She had a ticket for Saturday to make sure she would be there Sunday...well while Grandma was in the air Jenny's water broke. I guess the baby knew Grandma was almost there so he wasn't going to wait any longer! Rick came and got Margie from the airport and went to the hospital where Jenny already had checked in.
Baby Boy arrived on Saturday 01-09-10 at 4:19 pm weighing 7lbs 5 ounces measuring 20 inches long.
I might be biased but I think he is adorable!!
I can't wait to meet him and for Colton to get to know his cousin. March can't come soon enough :)
P.S. Baby Boy has yet to have an official name so I can't wait to hear when they FINALLY decide!

Reflection

The last couple days I have some time to think and reflect on 2009
Although it was one of the hardest years of my life it was also my most rewarding.

Mother's Day 2009

Colton and I went through some BIG changes but are coming out of it stronger and better people. I never could have imagined how such a little person could have such a big impact on every decision I made this year. I never went into anything lightly and I really thought hard about what the right thing for both of us was. I don't regret anything and I'm happy with our life. Granted I wish I could provide Colton with a "traditional" family but I know that we are better off. I love him with my whole heart and pray daily that I am doing the right thing.

I also went through a big change personally. I started the year unhealthy and unhappy and I'm proud to say that I'm ending the year much healthier and happier.

Before (yikes)

After

We went on FUN vacations

Colton had a lot of firsts

We spent a lot of time with family and friends doing fun things

Of course I have some resolutions but I kept them simple.
Maintain a healthy lifestyle
Manage my finances
Be the BEST mother I know how to be

I want to thank everyone who was there supporting us and making this year one of our bests!
As we look forward to 2010 I am hopeful. I know there will be challenges and some things are going to be difficult for me but I also know that great blessings are in store for us. I can't wait to see what the next year has in store for us.

Happy New Year!!

We had a great New Year's Eve this year!
We stayed home and had The Jacobs, The Campbell's, and Terry's brother Larry over.
We ate yummy Mexican food and played Band Hero. Lucas and Colton really got into the music and had control of the mic most of the night. I love when Colton gets to spend time with Lucas because he loves him so much! He always wants to give him hugs and kisses...poor Lucas yet he is so patient with him! After I saw what jammies Lucas was going to wear I realized Colton had matching ones so we had them be twinners. We can't wait for May when Ron and Shamie really will be adding little twin girls to their family!

We had a lot of fun and although both Colton and I were in bed by 11:00 it was a great way to ring in the new year

Snowbird Take 2

Colton and I went back up to Snowbird on Tuesday to spend a couple nights with Grandpa Vance and Grandma Margie. We watched movies, played with toys and swam in the snow. Colton struggled for some of the time. He had a fever Tuesday night but was an angel. Wednesday on the other hand...no fever yet Colton was not very happy. Thank goodness for Barney and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse DVD's :) He liked to swim in the snow even though the picture might say otherwise! He didn't want to get out but I was scared we were going to catch pneumonia! We can't wait for next year when the whole family will be back out with Baby Boy Hansen (who will be born in 10 days!!)

Colton loved to watch Grandpa out the window when he was on the balcony

The gorgeous view from our balcony on Thursday morning after it had snowed all day Wednesday
