This might be ridiculous...

but I FINALLY mowed my first lawn.
I know I should probably be embarrassed that I'm turning 25 in a few weeks and I have yet to do this but I have never needed to. That is what brothers, dads, landlords, boyfriends are for right?!? In an effort to keep busy and help out a little more around my house I offered to give it a go. I loved it! Colton also loved it. I had got him his own play mower but he had no interest in that one. He wanted to push the real thing! I did realize that I will always have to live close to my parents so Colton can come over and do this for them when they are old and feeble :)

Proof I did it!
Don't mind the gym clothes or wet hair...

Mother's Day 2010

We had a great mother's day this year. We went to Kamas and saw all our Grandmas and Great-Grandmas and got to spend time on Grandpa Lambert's farm. Colton loved all the horses and cows as long as there was a good distance between him and them. I feel so incredibly lucky to be Colton's mom everyday. I love him more and more everyday and can't wait to spend the rest of my life learning from him. I also feel incredibly lucky to have the mom that I do. She is truly my best friend and biggest supporter. I am closer to her now than I have ever been. She has been great through everything this past year. I couldn't have been blessed with a better mom. Colton is very lucky to have a grandma that loves him as much as my mom does. She is so good to him and I am grateful to everything she does for him.

Walmart

Have you heard of People of Walmart?
I love it!
I love people watching. It's a hobby of mine. Right or wrong I don't care, it's fun.
Lately my friend Josh and I have made a hobby of going to Walmart to see who we can see.
Last night we found the winner of everyone.
I'm sad I have no pictures or video to accompany the story but the story is good enough on it's own.
After walking through the store and purchasing a movie we made our way back to the car. There was the typical people we always see.
The odd couples, the big families (who have their kids out way too late), the teenagers with nothing else to do. Nothing too exciting.
As we were sitting in the car getting ready to go I started looking at the kid getting out of the car across from us. First I noticed his awesome black and lime green jacket, so I made a comment. Then we noticed his girl pants, another comment was made. What happens next felt like slow motion. He went and grabbed a cart and wheeled it over to the passenger back seat of the car, opened the door and pulled out an infant car seat with a blanket over it. The first thing I thought was "oh another baby out way too late". Then the girlfriend/wife got out, Josh said
"she has a cat"
A baby and a cat?! That's weird but okay... If I thought that was weird I was wrong.
She then proceeded to put the cat in the baby carrier, tuck it in and put the blanket back over it. I was very concerned that she was putting a cat on top of a baby. We immediately got out of the car and followed them in. By the time we followed them through the parking lot, in the front doors and past the door greeter they had to re tuck this poor cat in twice. I couldn't follow them anymore. I was laughing way too hard.
Who does this? Are we the only ones who thought this was crazy?!
I think I laughed for a half hour straight and am still laughing now thinking about it.
Like I said, I'm very sad I could not get pictures or video...

Go Jazz!

I am slowly but surely becoming a Jazz fan. I have always liked them but never made an effort to watch them on t.v. I have been watching them this playoff season and have really enjoyed it. I have always hated the Lakers and especially Kobe so I have been cheering even louder this last week. Last night my friend Josh and I got to go to the playoff game. It was insane in there and the game was intense! Although they lost in the last minute we still had fun and it was a great experience being in the loudest arena in the NBA. Now we hope for at least a victory on Monday!

Accomplishment

I did it!

I ran my first 5k

Jena and I did Race for the Cure yesterday and I feel great about it! It was an amazing and beautiful thing to see so many people down there for one reason. I also was ecstatic that I finished my 5k. I didn't run the whole time but I think we finished in about 35 minutes which is great for me! One year ago on this week is when I decided to change my lifestyle and I am so glad I could mark that occasion with such a big accomplishment with a friend who means the world to me. Thank you Jena I had a blast!

Spring Football! Go Utes!

On April 17 (yes I know I'm behind) the Utes held their annual Spring practice game. I took Colton down with family and friends to watch. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. They had a tailgating competition before so we walked the lot first before going in. I figured it was good practice to see how Colton would do come fall when football season finally arrives. He did great. Granted we were outside finally, he had is own seat so lots of room and a friend to play with. I still think he loves football as much as his mommy and will do awesome during the season. Now we just have to paitently wait for fall to arrive... The look on his face cracks me up!

A Mind of His Own

This last week I have come to the conclusion that Colton needs to live in bubble wrap.
While at his dad's house on Sunday he fell on the sidewalk and his chin caught his fall. Poor buddy had a big ol' scab forming across his little chin.
On Wednesday I noticed a big red spot and bump on his left cheek. At this point I'm concerned people are going to think he is neglected.
Then Thursday night he was walking next to the fireplace and tripped over his own foot breaking his fall on the edge of the tile with his right cheek. It instantly bruised and swelled up. Now I'm really concerned thinking people are going to really think I beat my kid.
Friday morning my mom then sends me a picture at work of his finger wrapped up in a band aid. He apparently cut it on some unknown item in the cupboard. That kid is tough though!!
I knew he was "spirited" and had a lot of energy but I didn't realize how much until this week after spending some time with another little kid (although ten months older and a girl) and seeing the difference!

Now the best story of the week came this morning. We decided to go swimming at the Murray pool. Colton was really excited when we were walking in and he could see the pool through the window. Being a very dumb mom I wasn't holding him when we walked through the door. I turned for seriously one second when I heard my friend yelling Colton's name. I turned just in time to see him running into the pool fully clothed! I ran in after him and caught him right after he decided to sit down and start playing. We were soaked! I'm not going to lie, for a second I thought I was going to give up and cry (it had been one of those mornings) but then realized how funny it really was and just had to laugh. I'm still laughing thinking about it. It really stunk after we were done for the day and had to put our wet clothes back on to go home.
I love my little bubas and I love how rambunctious he is! He definitely keeps me on my toes!
