Who am I Sir?

A UTAH man am I!!!!!

Yesterday was the opening game for the 2010 University of Utah football season. I have been counting down for the last three weeks. We started the day off by tailgating and enjoying the nice hot day. Colton loved being outside for the whole day. We walked over to the game and watched the players warm up. Colton was mesmerized watching "ball" and wouldn't look anywhere but the field. As they started playing the introduction video and playing the music my hands started shaking I was so excited! We screamed, clapped, cheered and sang the fight song as the players ran out to start off their season. Colton loves clapping to the fight song and knows to say "O UES!" (go utes) at the end. The game was a great one! It ended up going into overtime and I haven't heard the crowd this loud in a long time. It was so much fun to be there with the energy and the excitement. It also helped that we WON 27-24 thanks to a FANTASTIC interception and a great field goal. It was a great start to what I'm sure will be a GREAT "farewell tour" season.

Colton was so tired at the end he couldn't keep his eyes open despite me (and everyone else) screaming as loud as we could. He was such a good boy the whole game

**side note: the best sign of the game was "Hey INDEPENDENCE, Nobody Likes You!!"**

Spring Football! Go Utes!

On April 17 (yes I know I'm behind) the Utes held their annual Spring practice game. I took Colton down with family and friends to watch. It was a beautiful day and we had a lot of fun. They had a tailgating competition before so we walked the lot first before going in. I figured it was good practice to see how Colton would do come fall when football season finally arrives. He did great. Granted we were outside finally, he had is own seat so lots of room and a friend to play with. I still think he loves football as much as his mommy and will do awesome during the season. Now we just have to paitently wait for fall to arrive... The look on his face cracks me up!

Let the Festivities Begin...

This year we had a great Thanksgiving weekend. On Thanksgiving Colton and I spent it with my moms side of the family. We had dinner in Kamas at my Aunt Lori's house, she did a great job hosting. I of course forgot my camera but I got one picture right before we left.
Friday I had the pleasure of working at 4:30 am for those crazy Black Friday shoppers. I actually really enjoy working that early on that day because first, I like to see the crazy people and second the day goes by waaaay fast! Colton also got to spend time with his Aunt Jenny, Uncle Rick and cousins Brandon and Michelle. It was fun for him to play with someone new for a couple days. We can't wait for the next time we see them because Colton will have a new baby boy cousin to play with! Uncle Trevor was also in town and that was fun. I'm kicking myself for not getting any pictures!

Saturday was the big University of Utah-BYU football game. We went over to the Jacob's to have Chili and watch the game. Although my team didn't win it was a GREAT game and we had a fun time with Don and Margaret. Before the game Colton had a fun time playing on Lucas' slides out in the backyard with Grandpa. I guess I now know what I will be buying this summer!

I can't believe it is already December 1st. This year has gone by so fast and so much has changed. I am looking forward to the next month and have a lot of fun things planned for Colton and I to do for the Holidays. Although there are days I feel overwhelmed with life and every curve ball that is being thrown my way, life is good right now. I feel very blessed and lucky for all the people that love me and support me. I hope everyone has a fun, Stress Free and joyous holiday season!

Classy? You tell me...

Dear Max Hall,
My name is Lindsey and I am a very passionate University of Utah fan.
I would also like to believe I am a fair, respectful and CLASSY fan.
I do believe that there are fans out there that do not represent our school and sportsmanship very well. I also believe that there are BYU fans out there that do not represent your schools beliefs and sportsmanship very well.
I believe a little competition is healthy and a good rivalry is fun. I think as long as everyone understands it is just a game and in the big picture of life who wins or loses is a just a mere moment in time (although I of course would rather the Utes come out victorious) it can remain fun and healthy.
Now I understand things have been said and things have been done to hurt your feelings and to hurt your view on the University of Utah I would like to take a moment to discuss your comments Saturday night.
Let us start with a quote shall we.
"...I don't like Utah. In fact, I hate them. I hate everything about them. I hate their program, I hate their fans, I hate everything."
Those sir are very strong words to use at a formal press conference but I would have understood if you had stopped there. It is a very passionate rivalry. Yet you decided to go on and say
"I think the whole university, their fans and their organization is classless. They threw beer on my family and stuff last year, and they did a whole bunch of nasty things, and I don't respect them, and they deserved to lose."
Granted I'm sorry your family got treated poorly, I'm sorry that there are fans out there that would behave in such a way. I am also sure that there are plenty of stories out there of Utah fans getting treated poorly at your stadium (including when I was an eight year old girl innocently sitting at a rivalry game proudly in my Utah coat and having things thrown at me...now remember I said eight years old).
To group everyone associated with the Utes, all their fans, and their organization together and call them classless? That sir, if you ask me, is disrespectful, unprofessional and down right CLASSLESS.
To be a representative of BYU and their "organization" I would think you would watch what you say.
They should be ashamed of you.
Although I should thank you for one thing, your comments have definatley taken a little glory off your win and shown you in one bad light, I guess it just must be your true colors coming through for everyone to see.
Thank You,
A true classy Utah fan

Vegas!

We took a quick weekend trip to Vegas this weekend to watch the Utes dominate the Rebels! We left later in the afternoon on Friday so it was probably during Colton's most restless time of day which made me nervous. He was awesome until we hit St. George. We ate in Beaver and got back in the car to continue. Right after St. George he started to get restless and cry (it was his bedtime so I wasn't surprised) he finally fell asleep and right after we got out of the canyon that leads into Mesquite he woke up and started to fuss again. I had my hand on his face trying to calm him down when he looked over at me and puked ALL over! It was so sad and quite gross!! Once we got pulled over and cleaned up he was a total champ. I figure he just got a little car sick. We didn't get into Vegas until about eleven that night so we just went straight to bed.
The next day we had a lot of time to kill until the game since it didn't start until seven. We went to the outlet malls where Colton found some cool toys to ride. He loved the train which made Grandpa proud. He also liked the car... until it started to move then the fun was over. I didn't blame him the thing was apparently made for "big" kids because it almost tipped him right out!
We also made it to the Hoover Dam. I had never been there before so it was pretty cool. Terry was fascinated, to say the least, at the new Bridge they were building so he loved every minute. Colton slept through half of it then finally woke up to take some pictures.
We made it over to the parking lot to tailgate with our group a couple hours before the game. Colton decided the activity of the day was get as dirty as you can and collect as many rocks as your hands can carry. I was worried about how he would do at the game since it was so late but once again he was awesome. He fell asleep just sitting on my lap about the second quarter and didn't wake up until the end. He even slept through the five beers that were spilled on us and me standing up and finally yelling at the guys behind us! They were ridiculously drunk and super obnoxious. Once I "laid down the law" though they behaved very well! Oh yes and the Utes did dominate. It was a way fun game!
We got up early and headed out Sunday morning. It took us almost eight hours to get home but Colton was pretty amazing for being cooped up that long. If you have ever been around him for more than five minutes you know he is a very busy kid and doesn't ever sit still for long so I was one proud mom at the end of this trip. Thank goodness for portable DVD players and Barney Halloween (which I have now seen about seventeen times!). We did take a little break to play on the grass and stretch our legsI am so lucky to have such a great family to go on all our fun trips on. Colton has now been in five States and two Countries and he is only thirteen months old! He is one lucky kid!
**side note: I know I probably put way too way pictures up so sorry!**

Can I get a Woot Woot?!

Doesn't he look thrilled :)

Yesterday was the first Utah home game of the season. I have been looking forward to taking Colton to these since I found out I was pregnant! He was too little last year so yesterday the time was finally here! He went up tailgating six hours before the game and made it all the way until the fourth quarter before he was just too tired to keep cheering (it was ten o'clock though so I was impressed we made it that long!) He loved cheering and clapped right along with everyone. We had a ton of fun and I hope there is a few more games with good enough weather I can take him to this year.
