Scariest Place on Earth

Last Sunday was a day I had been looking forward too for a couple months. I had bought myself, Colton and Karlee tickets to Disney on Ice. I even splurged and got GREAT seats hoping it would help hold Colton's interest through the entire show. We were on the fourth row, center ice right on the aisle. The view was amazing and I was so excited for the show to start so Colton could see Mickey in person! I of course spent way too much money on a light up wand and a mater hat for his souvenirs, but he was set! Well...Lights go out, kids start cheering and here comes Mickey...Colton was sitting on my lap and after about 45 seconds of trying to get him to wave and clap I realized the poor kid was shaking. He was shaking from the inside out. I looked at his face and he had the look of fear and "I'm going to start screaming any second" look. I tried to get him to relax and get excited but once "Mater" came out he was DONE!!! He started climbing off my lap and pointing to the door. I think he would have climbed all 45 stairs without me just to get out of there! I tried to stand at the top thinking maybe we were too close but nope. After four attempts of going back in I finally gave up and had Karlee meet me at the top and we left. I was so disappointed that he didn't enjoy it! The only thing he did like was the popcorn! Maybe next year...

Just to show how close we were!

Trevor's *times* Two!!

This last week has been a busy one at our house! We had Uncle Trevor here from California AND "Uncle" Trevor (my step brother) here from Washington! "Big" Trevor (step brother, big because he is older and well, bigger) also brought along two friends.

Trying to get Colton to cooperate was pretty impossible. This was the best one we could get of all three of them. All together we had nine people staying at our house. Thank goodness for air mattresses and the motor home :) Colton loved (for the most part) having lots of people here to play with and entertain. Although shy and moody at moments I think he was grateful to have some men in the house instead of just girls all the time! Uncle Trevor loves Colton and is so cute with him! As long as I wasn't visible Colton loved playing with him too. They wrestled, played football and watched sports together (you know "manly" stuff). I love this picture! We already miss both Trevor's and can't wait to see them in Seattle in a couple months!

Fort Building

Friday night Colton, Karlee and I decided we were going to watch Shrek the Halls and some other Christmas cartoons. We put the movie in and pushed play when Shrek started speaking Spanish to us. See my mom has this Mexican DVD player (that I ask her if she bought on the black market in Tijuana) and unless you change the settings before beginning the movie it always defaults to Spanish, either speaking or subtitles. Re-realizing this it figures we can not find the remote ANYWHERE (Colton has a tendency to hide remotes, phones ect...) After pulling the whole family room apart and still not being able to find I looked around at our mess and decided that tonight was the night I was going to "teach" Colton how to build a fort. After strategically placing cushions and blankets everywhere it was time to play. Colton had other thoughts. He looked at me like I was nuts if he was going to crawl under that contraption. I tried to show him how fun it was by getting in there with him but he was mostly interested in trying to collapse the whole thing on top of me instead I finally gave up and we brought my DVD player down and watched Shrek. Overall it was a fun night and I have layed the foundation for some good fort building days ahead of us...

Pumpkin Patch

I took Colton to his very first Pumpkin Patch to choose his very first pumpkin. It was fun to walk up and down the dirt paths... and Colton tried to lift most of the pumpkins himself... He loved driving and riding in the wheelbarrow... but the thing he liked the most was "driving" the tractors... I wasn't feeling too good (dang flu) so we didn't stay long but we did get some good pumpkins to take home and Colton has enjoyed playing with them and rearranging them every chance he gets!
Oh and how could I forget the "buttcrack" pumpkin :)

1st Birthday Party!

Yesterday I had Colton's 1st birthday party. I did a Monkey themed party and it turned out great! I rented a pavilion and had it at Winchester Park and once the wind died down it was perfect weather. There was a playground for the kids and we did a pinata. Since I don't know how to do collage pictures (and don't have the patience to figure it out) here are probably WAY too many pictures to enjoy. Note: I am NOT Holly Homemaker and made the cakes so I'm quite proud ;)

Colton had never really had sugar until he had this cake...yes...he enjoyed it!

Can we say SPOILED!

Yes there are three of those dogs and I had bought him one making his grand total four. I guess great minds think alike!

THANK YOU to everyone who came and made his day special. Thank you to my parents for all their help and especially THANK YOU to Maria who helped plan, shop, setup, and calm me down! I could not have asked for a better day!

Can I get a Woot Woot?!

Doesn't he look thrilled :)

Yesterday was the first Utah home game of the season. I have been looking forward to taking Colton to these since I found out I was pregnant! He was too little last year so yesterday the time was finally here! He went up tailgating six hours before the game and made it all the way until the fourth quarter before he was just too tired to keep cheering (it was ten o'clock though so I was impressed we made it that long!) He loved cheering and clapped right along with everyone. We had a ton of fun and I hope there is a few more games with good enough weather I can take him to this year.

Summer Fun

Since I'm not so great at updating my blog I'll put a couple of the fun things we have done recently into one post...
Camping with the Baileys
A lot of fun! We went to private property so it was quiet and we could d o whatever we wanted. We drove the four wheelers around and just sat and sat. I even drove the four wheeler for the first time and surprised myself by really liking it. Because it was secluded we put Colton in the middle of Karlee and I and drove him down a little paved road. He LOVED it and said "vroom vroom" the whole time. He kept wanting to go more and was getting mad when we wouldn't. Of course it was cold Saturday and warm Sunday the day we were leaving but oh well still fun! I forgot the stroller and so my genius stepdad attached a rope to a box Colton kept climbing in and we had to take turns pulling him around. He is so easily entertained!

Cherry Hill

We went to Cherry Hill with Jena and Aniston and had a blast! Colton loves water, swimming, and little kids so he was in heaven! He had a friend to follow around and could get splashed in the face (which he enjoys)! It was fun and I can't wait until next year when he can enjoy a little bit more!

Alaska

WARNING! Long with alot of pictures!
Colton and I had the opportunity to go on an Alaskan cruise with my dad's family at the end of July. It was so much fun! I was nervous to fly with a ten month old but of course Colton did wonderfully! He slept for half the flight then ate and played the rest of the flight.
Right before we took off
We flew in with my grandparents and met everyone else on the ship. Our whole family got to go which is amazing! It's not often you can get everyone together for a week at the same time. We were excited to see Uncle Trevor (who now lives in California), Aunt Jenny and Uncle Rick and their kids Brandon and Michelle.

We had two days at sea and four stops at ports all of which were gorgeous and fun! We got to see Ketchikan, Juneau, Skagway, and Victoria B.C. (which I thought was the most gorgeous of all!). Colton and I mostly walked around the towns and did some shopping at all the ports except for in Victoria where we got to see the Beauchart Gardens (I have no idea if that is spelled right). They were so pretty and so amazing to look at.
I honestly could not have asked for a better trip or better behaving child. He was AMAZING the whole time and was quite the charmer and performer with everyone he met. I thank God everyday for the opportunity to have him in my life and to learn and grow with him.
I took over 300 pictures during our week of fun but I will just share a few...
