18 Month Old Update

Colton turned 18 months old on Sunday March 21st 2010. Seriously where did my little baby go? He is getting to become such a little boy and he amazes me everyday.

We went to his wellness check up and everything went great! He has gained some weight and grown a little taller.

Some boring stats:

Weight: 24.3 lbs 25th percentile (a huge increase from his 15 month)

Height: 32 3/8 inches 50th percentile

Head: 50th percentile

Because I want to remember this stuff here is a (long) list of reasons I love Colton:

*He is becoming a lot more independent and has become even more stubborn. He does not like you to help him and wants to do everything himself. We are still in the stage on the "point and grunt" communication. That gets a little frustrating at times.

*He is saying more words all the time but will not normally perform on command. He can tell you what most animals say and is doing great at recognition. He can point to all the animals on his book and on his see and say toy when asked where they are.

*His favorite foods are still bananas, oranges and any other fruit. He likes cheese, corn and chicken. He is definitely not a picky eater and will usually eat whatever I give him.

*He LOVES LOVES LOVES Barney! We watch it every night together before we go to bed and he gets so excited and enthralled. He sings along and dances to the music. Barney has even taught him the itsy bitsy spider (so cute!)

*He loves to Dance! His favorite song is Shake Your Groove Thing and we Disco dance throughout the kitchen and living room daily.

*He loves to wrestle and also give loves and I can't get enough. Sometimes I smother him with kisses so much he has to get mad and push me away!

*He loves to play hide and go seek. He still hasn't quite got the being quiet when hiding down yet :)

*He loves to play with kids. Big or small doesn't matter he loves them! Especially his cousin Lucas whom I believe he admires and looks up too!

*I love that he gets so excited when I come home from work and screams and his runs to me and always has a HUGE hug and kiss waiting for me!

*He unfortunately is getting a little case of separation anxiety when I leave in the morning but I have been told it goes away pretty quick. Usually a banana can distract him and then he doesn't care if I leave. It still breaks my heart when he is crying and doesn't want me to leave!

*He loves the outdoors. Going and playing outside is fun but at the same time I dread it because I know I am going to have to deal with a very unhappy child once it is time to come inside. If it was up to Colton we would live outdoors in a tent (and if it wasn't for my parents that is exactly what we would be doing!)

This list could go on forever but I will not bore you any longer. I love my bubas so much and can't imagine my life without him! The last 18 months of my life have hands down been the best I have ever had!

18 Month Pictures

Okay so obviously I'm biased but how cute is he?!?

Getting him to cooperate was really difficult and I'm actually really surprised we got this many. He wanted nothing to do with the photographer and absolutely did NOT want to sit still :)

Side Note: After we got pictures done we went to see the Easter Bunny. I already was doubting he would like him after the Disney On Ice adventure and I was right. No way did he want anything to do with him so I decided to do us all a favor and skip getting a picture this year with the Bunny.

Baby Boy Justin

We FINALLY got to meet Justin! He is just as cute (if not cuter) in person as he is in all his pictures! What a sweet baby! Colton was very interested in showing us where his nose, ears, mouth ect.. all were. Colton even got to spend the day Wednesday playing with him while I was at work. My step sister got some really cute pictures from that day so when I get copies I'll post more.

Scariest Place on Earth

Last Sunday was a day I had been looking forward too for a couple months. I had bought myself, Colton and Karlee tickets to Disney on Ice. I even splurged and got GREAT seats hoping it would help hold Colton's interest through the entire show. We were on the fourth row, center ice right on the aisle. The view was amazing and I was so excited for the show to start so Colton could see Mickey in person! I of course spent way too much money on a light up wand and a mater hat for his souvenirs, but he was set! Well...Lights go out, kids start cheering and here comes Mickey...Colton was sitting on my lap and after about 45 seconds of trying to get him to wave and clap I realized the poor kid was shaking. He was shaking from the inside out. I looked at his face and he had the look of fear and "I'm going to start screaming any second" look. I tried to get him to relax and get excited but once "Mater" came out he was DONE!!! He started climbing off my lap and pointing to the door. I think he would have climbed all 45 stairs without me just to get out of there! I tried to stand at the top thinking maybe we were too close but nope. After four attempts of going back in I finally gave up and had Karlee meet me at the top and we left. I was so disappointed that he didn't enjoy it! The only thing he did like was the popcorn! Maybe next year...

Just to show how close we were!

Shake what your momma gave ya!

So let's be honest. I spend A LOT of time at home...
Really all my time is spent at home (if I'm not at work).
Consequently I watch probably way too much t.v.
I can't help it. I love tv, always have and probably always will.
I love my DVR and love being able to watch all my shows after Colton goes to bed.
I really do have a point to this rambling and it's this.
Make fun of me if you must (and I know most people are closet fans) but I am so excited for this

and who isn't excited to watch this train wreck?!?

Dancing With the Stars

starts March 22 and I personally can't wait!!

p.s. My secret wish is that I could dance like them.
Maybe one day I will be brave and go take lessons.
Maybe...

Love You Forever

I'll Love you Forever
I'll Like you for Always
As long as I'm living
My baby you"ll be...
Since this is basically my journal I just want to note that this is Colton's
FAVORITE
book right now. He brings it to me every night and will sit still and pay attention to the whole book. I also love this book so I don't mind reading it three times nightly. I recommend it to anyone :)
