Yay Pioneers!

For the 24th of July we held our second annual camp out in the Jacobs' backyard. It is so much fun to pitch tents and sleep out without all the dirt or mess for one night. We went over Monday night and had a yummy dinner of ribs with Don and Margaret Jacobs, The Campbell Family, Karlee and Grandma and Grandpa Treat. After setting up our tents and letting the kids run wild late into the night we finally settled into bed. Colton LOVES sleeping in the tent and unfortunately this summer has been unusually busy so we haven't had a chance to go camping yet. The next morning was the 24th, we got up and had a yummy breakfast courtesy of Margaret and Shamie then got the kids in their swimsuit. We set up the slip-n-slide and let them play until the clouds came and ruined our fun :( WE then spent the day inside playing Dinosaur Bingo, Phase Ten Twist and letting the kids watch some Mickey and The Smurfs. That night the (other) Jacobs Family came over and we had a BBQ, played ladder golf and Shawn put on a great fireworks show for us. I love this fairly new tradition of ours and look forward to it through out the year. The kids are now all old enough that they really love to interact and play together and it is so nice that they can just go and play! Yay for Pioneers coming to Utah and allowing us to continue the fireworks and summer holiday fun all the way through July!

Crash and go Boom!

Ready to see the cars!
One of my favorite days of the year is when we go to the Kamas Demolition Derby. I have been going to the derby every single year since I was a little girl. I LOVE IT!! I have taken Colton every year since he was born also but this is the first year he was really into it. He couldn't wait to go see the cars "crash and go boom". After the first heat he asked if there was going to be more and cheered while jumping up and down when I told him yes. My two cousins Tyson and Cameron Lewis have been driving in the derby since they both turned 16. Tyson has won the last two years so they were watching out for him. Unfortunately they deemed the car he had built as "illegal" (we really question that decision making) so he had to drive one of his other cars that has been in 3 other derby's before this one. Although he was driving an old car he still put on quite a show and made it to the final. Cameron also put quite a show on and hit a car so hard it tipped over! In the end Tyson's tire fell off the rim and Cameron's drive line went out so neither of them did take first place. Tyson did win hardest hit in one of his heats and Cameron took 4th place overall and won $1000.00. It was lots of fun and I am already looking forward to next years. There is something about the smell of dirt, exhaust and smoke that makes my adrenaline get going!

It's Where Fun Is!

My friend from work text me the other night offering up some majorly discounted tickets to Lagoon for this weekend. Since they were only 11.00 a piece we of course said yes!! That is a HUGE savings! Colton, myself, Aunt Karlee and Grandma and Grandpa Treat all got to come. Colton has never been to Lagoon and I haven't been since high school. I am so glad I waited until this summer to take him since he was tall enough to ride a lot of the rides and brave enough to want to. Even though it was HOT it was so much fun!! The lines were manageable, the crowds were relatively small and everyone was in a great mood. Colton like any ride that went fast the best. He loved Bombora (the kid sized roller coaster), the Ladybug Drop, the Log Ride (even though he was hesitant at first because he didn't want to get wet) and the Scrambler! He also made me go on a ride that I hated! I don't know the name but you sit in a cage and rock back and forth while it goes around like a Ferris Wheel. I had my eyes closed most the time and anytime I would get the cage still he would be mad and make me start rocking again. I am so glad he has become more of a dare devil this summer! I also got to try out Wicked for the first time this year and LOVED it! Samurai on the other hand....ugh! I have learned my stomach just can't handle the rides that make your stomach go into your throat anymore. By the end we were all HOT and TIRED so we hit up the little plash pad they have to cool off then headed home! We went during bounce back so we can't wait to go again next week and hopefully have Uncle Trevor join us when he is in town!

The one good picture I got of him riding any ride

You can't tell but we were SOAKED from the Log Ride

Let's Go Bee's

My buddy and I enjoying the game
When Colton was playing t-ball he got two free tickets to any Bee's game. Since they had Fireworks Saturday night (July 7th) we decided that was the best night to go. We got to go with the Workman's and it was a lot of fun! Anytime Colton gets to hang out with Oliver and his girlfriend Zoey he is happy! We had great seats and luckily sat by some really nice people who let Colton sit by him so he could explain the game to him more. I just love kind people! They make life so much more enjoyable! Unfortunately the Bee's lost that night but the fireworks were good and the kids had a blast!

Girls Just Want To Have Fun!

At the end of June my friend Sara and I took a girls only trip down to St. George for the weekend. Since we both have birthday's in June we have decided to make this an annual tradition. Our goal is to go bigger and bigger each year and no one is allowed to be pregnant in either Vegas or New York! We left Friday morning and headed down. I don't know about anyone else but I love road trips. I just like the calm of the car (at least when it is kids free), having great uninterrupted conversations, turning the music up and just driving! When we got into St. George we of course had to go to Target, how lame are we that this is our first stop! I can't even remember why we went, probably just because I was going through withdrawals since it had been 1 day since I had gone last. Yes, I have a problem. After stocking up on things we didn't need we headed to the hotel. We got checked in and immediately put the swim suits on, grabbed our books and headed to the pool. IT WAS SO NICE to be able to sit by a pool and read and not have to worry about one child there. It was a little slice of heaven! That night we decided to get sushi at Samurai 21. Have you ever heard of a sushi high? It is a real thing people, it hits approximately 15 minutes after eating and it contains uncontrollable laughter in public places. We sat at the bar and the sushi chef could not believe we were only drinking water! Yes we are that annoying sober...just wait until both of us get a few drinks in us! Unfortunately we were too busy stuffing our faces and laughing our butts off we forgot to get a picture at the restaurant. Luckily my cousin Shamie was staying at the same hotel as us for a family reunion so we bugged her to take a picture so we could at least have one picture that wasn't 6 inches away from our faces. Once we got back to the room that night we had a homemade "spa" night. Sara was awesome and made us some foot scrubs and facial scrubs to use. Sitting on the edge of the tub both scrubbing our feet was a sight to see and be grateful I didn't take a picture of that tub afterwards...ewwww!! The facial stuff was also entertaining. It was runny so we decided to lay on the floor while putting it on. The two of us laying on towels on the hotel floor with green kiwi stuff on our faces and tea bags on our eyes was something I wish we could have got a picture of. I am so grateful to have a friend to act like a complete idiot with and who laughs as much as I do!

After picture
The next morning (after sleeping in until 10!) we headed back to the pool. We sat and read for a few hours before the heat got to us. We decided to take a little break from the sun and go see what Magic Mike could give us ;) If you haven't seen Magic Mike yet let me give you some advice...wait until you can watch it for free or only pay a dollar at Redbox! Yes I realize this movie is about a stripper and the acting wasn't expected to be stellar but man, Channing Tatum please stick to taking your shirt off and not talking, it kind of ruins your appeal!! After soaking in more rays and going to dinner we decided to drive around St. George a bit. Jamming out to MC Hammer and Journey in the hoity toity areas of St. George are some of the best times I have had! We also tried to get a picture of the two of us with the view of the city in the background, after multiple attempts we decided that was a big fat fail! That night Sara had this facial mask that she had at home that she hadn't tried yet so we decided to give it a go. Okay first...it makes you look like a creepy plastic person, second peeling that sucker off was PAINFUL! Never, ever again will I use that stuff again. I wish I remember the name so I could warn everyone! Both of us had tears in our eyes while ripping it off piece by piece. Good thing we could laugh at ourselves while doing it!

This weekend was exactly the trip I needed to come home and feel refreshed and ready to tackle some things I need to start on. THANK YOU Sara for making me laugh, listening to me cry and allowing me to sit and not talk for hours at a time while I read to my hearts content. I am already counting down until next year! Vegas better watch out ;)
